SSHEnet will continue to evolve into an even faster, higher capacity and easily affordable private statewide network that transparently supports any and all networking needs of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and its partners. It will transport voice, video and data wherever and whenever needed using the latest proven (and sometimes experimental) technologies. Deployment of transport mechanisms will continue to outdistance demands, although "Just In Time" deployment will become more of the norm. SSHEnet nodes will continue to reside at State System Universities, while community partners develop feeder nodes from their community networks. Eventually, SSHEnet will join or become the Keystone Education Network (KEN).
