Enterprise Application Compatibility
SyTEC in cooperation with the State System has provided this information to advise State System users
of all compatibility testing and known issues found within PASSHE provided enterprise applications. Specific
details about testing of enterprise applications are listed below by application. The general recommendation
of SyTEC and the PA State System of Higher Education is to use a Windows-based machine running Internet
Explorer whenever possible.

Note: Internet Explorer for Mac is no longer available from
Microsoft and is not supported by PASSHE for any enterprise applications. |

Microsoft Windows
In the Microsoft Windows operating system environment, PASSHE certifies the 6.40 version of
SAP GUI for Windows at a patch level of 20. Below the patch level of 20, known issues have been
found while using Internet Explorer 7. If using an older version of IE, then PASSHE has certified
SAP GUI patch level 8 and above.
You can download SAP GUI for Windows and corresponding patches on the
software page of this web site.
Apple Macintosh
Since SAP has no specific Macintosh version of the SAP GUI client software, users should use
the SAP Client for Java. PASSHE has certified version 6.40 and higher of this software on Mac
OS X 10.4 and above. SAP claims that newer versions of SAP GUI are not supported on newer Intel-based
Mac systems (only Power PC based systems), but State System testing has found no known issues
as of yet.
Since the Enterprise Portal runs as a web application, it is operating system independent and
only dependent on which browser you choose to view the site with. Since Employee Self-Service
runs inside the SAP Portal, it will have the same compatibility report as the SAP Enterprise Portal.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Currently the SAP portal is supported up to Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer for MAC
is no longer supported by Microsoft and is not supported by PASSHE as well. Macintosh users should
consider using Firefox as a browser for the Enterprise Portal.
Mozilla Firefox
and Netscape

Firefox has been successfully tested in both the Windows and OS X operating system environments.
Slight visual and functional discrepancies will appear in firefox, but overall it can be considered
a compatible browser. Netscape 8 has been tested with similar results as firefox. If Netscape
8 has been configured to view pages like Internet Explorer, then the Internet Explorer guidelines
stated above will apply. No other Netscape versions have been tested.
Safari
and Opera

Not supported for either operating system environment. Normally, the portal will display a
message that states browser incompatibility and will not function in any way.
No issues related to operating system or internet browser have been found or reported.
